Virtual Private Networks

Virtual Private Networks allow individual enterprises to set up their own secured network over the insecure Internet. It also allows the employers of the company to establish a secure and authenticated connection to their company.

IPSec is the standard for VPN services. It is an open standard and implemented by many networkcompanies. The standard defines the possibilities to exchange data and the corresponding keys. Digibel chose the FreeS/WAN VPN solution which does not implement the weak possibilities but relies on a well-proven encryption technique called 3DES. It is compatible with third party products such as CheckPoint Firewall-1/VPN-1.

Connecting your employers to the company-office goes even without buying additional software for the clients: the IPSec software shipped with Microsoft Windows 2000 and XP is fully compatible with the FreeS/WAN VPN software. Employers using GNU/Linux may of course also connect with the FreeS/WAN VPN.
